About us

The Centre for Civic Orientation in Stockholm County (Centrum för samhällsorientering i Stockholms län – CSO), is a joint office serving all the municipalities in the County of Stockholm, as well as the municipality of Håbo in the County of Uppsala.

The office coordinates, plans and develops the civic orientation course for newly arrived immigrants and their relatives who live in the following municipalities:
Botkyrka, Danderyd, Ekerö, Haninge, Huddinge, Håbo, Järfälla, Lidingö, Nacka, Norrtälje, Nykvarn, Nynäshamn, Salem, Sigtuna, Sollentuna, Solna, Stockholm, Sundbyberg, Södertälje, Tyresö, Täby, Upplands-Bro, Upplands Väsby, Vallentuna, Vaxholm, Värmdö and Österåker.

Civic orientation is a free course about various aspects of Swedish society. This course provides those who are new to Sweden with information about their rights and obligations, Swedish democracy, and how Swedish society is organized. Each civic orientation course is given in the mother tongue of the participants or in another language that they know well. The Swedish Public Employment Service (arbetsförmedlingen) or one’s home municipality registers participants to these courses.

Civic orientation courses in Stockholm County are organized by the educational company’s ABF Stockholm and Cuben Utbildning AB. The current agreement is valid until 31 August 2023.
