There are several alternatives for adults who want to study, such as municipal adult education (komvux), folk high schools, colleges and universities. The municipality arranges Swedish language studies for immigrants, SFI. All this education is free, but for some education, students must buy their own books.

If you are looking for advice and information about various schools and educational programmes, you can talk with a study and vocational counsellor. They know what qualifications you need for different kinds of programmes. The counsellors can advise you about what programme is best for you based on your particular goals.

They work at compulsory schools, upper secondary schools, adult education programmes, colleges and universities.
