The labour market in Stockholm County

The Stockholm region is Sweden’s largest labor market.  There are around 1,3 million people in the region who have a job or other empolyment.

Many people in Stockholm County live in one municipality and work in another. This may mean travel time between home and work.

It is also common to live in another region such as Uppland or Sörmland, and commute to Stockholm for work. That means there will be travel time to get to work. According to the Stockholm County Administrative Board, there are almost 100,0000 people who travel from their home in one region to their work in Stockholm.

Several of Sweden’s largest employers are located in Stockholm County.

• Region Stockholm, which is responsible for healthcare and public transport, for example, is one of Sweden’s largest employers.
• The city of Stockholm is one of the country’s largest employers. Employees within the City of Stockholm work in over 300 different occupations.
